Itinerary

Ranu Pani - Ranu Kumbolo

Register with the national park, trek 11 km through casuarina forest and steep climbs, pitch tents by the lake.

Oro-oro Ombo - Kalimati

Cross the Oro-oro Ombo savanna and Cemoro Kandang to camp at Kalimati (2,700 m).

Mahameru summit

Start at 00.30 for the summit, sunrise above the clouds, then descend to Ranu Pani.
